In an effort to distribute books to local families, Read Evansville has joined forces with Feed Evansville for a community-wide project.

The two organizations, along with other volunteers and youth-serving agencies, have combined their resources to ensure students avoid learning loss this summer.

After conducting phone surveys across the district to decide how to honor graduating seniors, the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp. plans to host traditional commencement celebrations this summer.

Out of the 899 senior families that responded to the survey, 80% favored in-person celebrations to take place in July.

Ivy Tech hosts virtual celebration for early college high school program graduates

While the state of many area high school graduations was still being determined, Ivy Tech Community College Evansville held a virtual ceremony to honor 18 students graduating the Early College High School program.

The students joined Chancellor Daniela Vidal and other Ivy Tech administrators Thursday afternoon during the celebratory event that highlighted their accomplishments throughout their four years in the dual-program.

Parents voice further frustrations over EVSC, AmeriQual meal kits

Following a turbulent distribution of meal kits Wednesday, which left tens of area families without food boxes, parents voiced frustrations about the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp.'s latest initiative.

Despite the EVSC's partnership with AmeriQual Group, who jointly produced and distributed 8,000 meal kits Wednesday afternoon, many families waited up to an hour in line and received no food.
